Surya Citra Televisi (
SCTV) is an Indonesian television station. Its headquarters are in South Jakarta. It began broadcasting on 24 August 1990 in Surabaya, East Java, broadcasting only to the city and surrounding area. At this point the programming was similar to that of RCTI and used some of their news programs until they could produce their own. On 1 August 1993 it was given a national license and eventually moved its operations to Jakarta. The main office is in South Jakarta and studios are in West Jakarta. It is owned by Surya Citra Media. In February 18, 2011 the commissioners of both parent company of Indosiar and SCTV has agreed to merger, although it should be inline with government regulations due to both company are going public company.

- 1 January 1990: SCTV was started planning for television transmission form STAR TV owner, Rupert Murdoch an News Corporation.[citation needed]
- 1 June 1990: SCTV was test of transmission began.
- 17 August 1990: SCTV was launched as Indonesia's first television station.
- 24 August 1990: SCTV was officially began television broadcasting grand innaugurated open public born name Surabaya Central Televisi Indonesia with programming similar to that of RCTI based in Jakarta.
- 1 August 1993: SCTV begins national broadcasts from Jakarta was renamed changed to Surya Citra Televisi Indonesia an SCTV news bulletin coverage actual informations programme broadcasting first aired as "Buletin Pagi - a international news", "Berita SCTV (Berita Daerah) - a primetime nightly main network news" and "Berita Jakarta - a national capital news based in Jakarta form editions as morning (Berita Jakarta Pagi), daytime (Berita Jakarta Siang), evening (Berita Jakarta Petang) and late night (Berita Jakarta Malam)".
- 1 August 1993 - 7 July 1997: SCTV moves headquarters from Surabaya to Jakarta.

- SCTV headquarters move from Studio 5 RCTI to Jakarta International Airport (International Departure Flight Lounge Terminal).
- SCTV produces its own news program called Liputan 6 SCTV which is aired three times a day.
- 24 August 1998: SCTV produces kids programme with their five cartoon imports dan five cartoon by SCTV, "10 Kartun SCTV" (lit. 10 SCTV Cartoon) we're broadcast until today of SCTV birthday date.
- August 2000: SCTV headquarters move from Jakarta International Airport (International Departure Flight Lounge Terminal) to SCTV Headquarters and first broadcast of East Java news in Liputan 6 Surabaya.
- 30 January 2005: New SCTV logo.
- 12 February 2006: SCTV having award from Emmy Awards as "10 Kartun SCTV" of hit kids programme with very high rating
- 9 June - 10 July 2006: Broadcast 2006 World Cup solely.
- 1 February 2008: SCTV headquarters move from SCTV Headquarters to SCTV Tower at Senayan City.
- 18 August 2008: New SCTV News logo.
- 24 August 2009: SCTV it's birthday, and SCTV have again with 35 of Emmy Awards, such as Liputan 6, Jalan Makin Membara, 10 Kartun SCTV, SCTV & O Channel: The Years, and more.
Local programming
The East Java version of
Liputan 6 SCTV which can only seen in Surabaya debuted in 2001. North Sumatera version of
Liputan 6 SCTV is seen on SCTV Medan at 9.30am and re-run in 4.00pm at SCTV. Where broadcast debuted in 1997 and it first hit of first look in 1998.
Other Segments
Other Segments appears and mostly depending on the relay station operated in the city or town. only shows Maghrib prayer in some cities, including Jakarta and Bandung area form Jabodetabek and Surabaya content point a Java, Bali, Palembang, Padang and Medan.
